I think brindle has to be first choice, for whatever reason it seems to be the magic ingredient.

Almost all the top sires throughout the years have carried brindle or been brindle, with one or two exceptions (Chief Eye Shy i'm pretty sure carried red, from memory) but there was plenty of brindle close up behind him.

Funny thing is, now I dont really want a red anymore. Started apresiating all the colors and as long as well marked I think all are nice. Least favorite is black brindle though. BUT there are so many bl brindle dogs out there so I cant say that either.

I always wanted a red one but never got one. First time I got a red brindle instead and then a tri. Was hoping to get a red out of a red& white mother and bl brindle and white father. Then when mating my gril, i again hoped for a red, instead i got 7 tris and 1 black brindle. I guess it was never meant to be mocking

lol It teaches us patience and modesty, doesn´t it? C´EST LA VIE! greeting

A tricolour to a white mating has probability of 50% white pups and 50% coloured and white - these colours are determined by the colour carried by the white parent as the tricolour parent can only pass on black & tan gene i.e. only produce tricolour pups.

I've always liked a deep red colour in dogs. When we had our first Stafford I wanted a red & ended up with a brilliant black brindle!

When we had the chance of a red smut bully we jumped at it!
